# Overview

After connecting your AWS account in Stage 1, the next step is enabling automated compute savings by clicking the **Start Savings button**. This is where Cloudshim moves from cost visibility to actual cost optimization — fully automated and always running in the background.

**Cloudshim is completely Free to use, we never charge you, only Save for you.**
{% endhint %}

### 🧠 What Happens in Stage 2?

In this stage, your AWS account is securely onboarded into Cloudshim’s AWS Organization using a guided CloudFormation flow. This allows Cloudshim to:

* Continuously manage Reserved Instances and Savings Plans
* Automate compute cost savings across EC2, RDS, ECS, and more
* Optimize without changing your infrastructure — no instance restarts or redeploys

All savings logic runs within Cloudshim’s infrastructure — your workloads remain completely untouched.

### 🔐 What Access Is Granted?

Onboarding into our organization grants Cloudshim permission to:

* View usage and billing data
* Purchase and manage RIs and Savings Plans on your behalf
* Never access or modify your running infrastructure or data

\
\&#xNAN;**✅ How to Enable Compute Savings**

1. From the Cloudshim dashboard, click Start Saving
2. You’ll be guided through a CloudFormation stack that securely links your account to Cloudshim’s AWS Organization
3. Follow the prompts, review the permissions, and click Create Stack
4. That’s it — Cloudshim will begin optimizing your compute usage automatically

**Savings typically begin to appear within days and are continuously updated in your dashboard**.

You keep full control of your resources. Cloudshim only operates at the billing and optimization layer.
